As part of our after–care we arrange an annual Memorial Service and invite the family and friends of each person whose funeral we have been entrusted to undertake since the last Memorial Service.
Our Memorial Services are held on a November Saturday afternoon held at
The Friends Meeting House in Woodlands Drive, Scarborough.
To ensure that the service is personalised and means as much as possible to the family we encourage everyone to bring some mementos, keepsakes or whatever means a lot to the family and these are place on tables at the front. We don’t publish an image of this table to ensure the privacy of the person being remembered at the service.
Revd. Chris Stephenson (left) and Ian Baird (right) officiating at the service.
The Act of Commemoration is normally conducted by Revd. Chris Stephenson who says "By the lighting of candles commemorating by name the memory of our loved ones who have gone before us, and who now rest in God’s nearer presence." He then lights a candle for each person being remembered and announces each name as their candle is lit. After the service a member of each family may take the candle lit for their loved one home.
After the service everyone is invited to refreshments and a friendly chat.
